Winterthur region

The Winterthur region lies in the eastern part of the Canton of Zurich, Switzerland’s most populous canton with over 1.3 million inhabitants. It is situated between the greater Zurich area to the west and the Eastern Switzerland / Lake of Constance region to the east. Winterthur and its surroundings form an independent economic center and an attractive residential region, benefiting from excellent road and rail connections. There are three motorways linking the Winterthur region to the rest of Switzerland and Europe, and a dense railway and post bus network ensuring that all municipalities in the surroundings of Winterthur can be reached by public transport. Zurich international airport, with flights to and from all continents, is a mere 15 minutes away from Winterthur by road or rail.
